Yep, guid is uniqe.
Briefly , there will be something like 
select id, realm  from repligard where guid=$guid and sitegroup=$yoursitegroup
for function  mgd_get_object_by_guid($guid).

Interesting thing is that You have the same id with the same realm.
id is not unique in this case as it points to id from realm table, and those ids 
are unique.  

can You send output for :
select * from repligard where realm='article' and id='16'; ?
(if these still exists)
