NTLM authentication support is not limited to the Windows platform or ASP.Net.
Samba 3.0.x (www.samba.org) provides a commandline utility called ntlm_auth which can be used for implementing NTLM single sign-on on CMSs running on Unix and Linux systems.
This is what we did with the Midgard Open Source CMS. Some links on the subject:
http://www.midgard-project.org/updates/2003-04-09-001.html http://midgard.tigris.org/source/browse/midgard/src/httpd/apache1/INSTALL-NTLM?rev=1.3&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup
In addition to NTLM single sign-on, authentication integration between Windows and Unix systems can be accomplished with PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules). With this it is possible to share usernames and passwords between a Windows domain or Active Directory and a CMS.
Again, here are some resources on how it works with Midgard: http://www.midgard-project.org/updates/2004-03-22-000.html http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=midgard-user&m=108262491806203&w=2
Hopefully this helps.
