Hi,
After my initial attempt at installing midgard failed, I decided to wipe the slate clean and try again. I'm still having problems.
So, in the spirit of trying to help myself, as well as future list-archive readers, I'm hoping that I can get some help, and ultimately provide some clear instructions on getting midgard/aegir running...
I'm running Debian unstable distribution and pretty sure I'd removed anything that was there from the previous install attempt; I'd apt-get remove --purge'd midgard and related packages, mysql and apache, made sure that the various /etc, /usr/lib and /var/lib directories relating to these programs...
Here's what I did then;
1) installed apache (1.3) (apt-get install apache)
2) installed mysql-server (apt-get install mysql-server)
3) set mysql root user password (sudo /usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password '<password>')
4) installed midgard (apt-get install midgard-data)
5) ran datagard and entered mysql admin name and password
6) selected 'Install new database'
7) db name: midgard
8) user: midgard
9) pass: xxxxxxxx
10) what is the name for database? midgard
11) Username? same as #8
12) password? same as #9
It then starts outputting data to the screen attempting to create the mysql database and blobs. It appears to be looping or doing something a bit odd at this point though, because it's not finished after 16 hours or so... I've posted the entirity of the console output here;
http://www.trinity.unimelb.edu.au/~mdorset/midgard/installlog.txt
Of note;
- it's reported that it's trying to create mysql database and blobs dir 35 times
- the last attempt where it's sitting now says;
=-=-= Trying to make xml update....
repligard-Message: Reading config file /etc/midgard/repligard.conf repligard-Message: Importing /usr/share/midgard/admin_user.xml repligard-Message: Reading config file /etc/midgard/repligard.conf repligard-Message: Importing /usr/share/midgard/data/net.nemein.wiki.xml Updating database: multilang ERROR 1030 at line 80: Got error -1 from table handler Updating database: fixing cache =-=-=
Anyone seen this? Have I done something wrong? I'm finding that CMS software is a little light on the ease-of-install side - perhaps it's like Debian in that first time install is painful, but once you're used to installing it, it all seems okay. Will be happy to provide any further data as needed to try and resolve this.
thanks! Mark
