Thank You for rapid reply !

When i check te repligard.conf file i find as follows:

<database
        schema="/usr/share/midgard/repligard.xml"
        name="tmpxmlupdate"
        username="root"
        password="myrootpassword"
        encoding="UTF-8"
        blobdir="/var/lib/midgard/blobs/tmpxmlupdate"
  />
<login
        username="root"
        password="myrootpassword"
/>

* when datagard asks me for the name of the database i type the name midgard
* when datagard asks username for midgard database is type root
* when datagard sks for the password for midgard database is type in
myrootpassword
then datagard is setting up the database and blobdirs and afterwards i get the
error messages

the repligard says "Message reading configfile /etc/midgard/repligard.conf
then repligard says "Critical **: Error logging into database

this repeats 2 - 3 times and then the sepup proceedes

afte all datagard quits with the same errormessage, the database midgard and
tmpxmlupdate are there, data and tables are within the db but no aegir etc

my user root exists in the database an teh password is also correct.

when i log into mysql with my user root i can connect to the database midgard
and can even drop it.

it is strange to me
