| When i check te repligard.conf file i find as follows:
|
| <database
| schema="/usr/share/midgard/repligard.xml"
| name="tmpxmlupdate"
| username="root"
| password="myrootpassword"
| encoding="UTF-8"
| blobdir="/var/lib/midgard/blobs/tmpxmlupdate"
| />
| <login
| username="root"
| password="myrootpassword"
| />

<snip />

| my user root exists in the database an teh password is also correct.

Check: You're talking about MySQL user account, not Midgard account I
believe.

So... the Datagard should ask for the MySQL account first,
and later on for Sitegroup administrator account (which by default
is admin / password).

| when i log into mysql with my user root i can connect to the database
midgard
| and can even drop it.

This is not the problem. It's the Midgard account that is the problem.
If you check your person table, you should see 'root' in there for this
to work... (Please don't add anything to the Midgard db directly!)

| it is strange to me

Never mind, we'll get you going in no time. :)

Cheers!
