OK, I was able to fix that one myself (for some reason, after I deleted the 
cache directory, it was recreated with root only permissions), but I'm still 
on Midcom 1.4 and I guess I always will be. 
There is some progress, though: I imported the midcom-template file a couple 
of times and new sites are now created with Midcom 2.4.1, but existing ones 
are still on 1.4.0. the downside is that the phpmyAdmin segfault is still 
there...

If someone can show me a way to migrate my web sites to the new version and 
get rid of the segfault, I'll promise not to post again this month :-)
