Not without a major change to the way plugins are loaded I expect but this would be a nice thing to do. Note that we do not use Maven for building Nutch but ANT+Ivy. There is a JIRA issue for building with ANT+Maven. The purpose of publishing the Nutch artefacts with Maven is that you can for instance read the Nutch datastructures in an external project (e.g. Behemoth).
