For Solr 4.3.0 we need this field to be present under <fields> section <field name="_version_" type="long" indexed="true" stored="true"/>. So by just adding the above field in Nutch's schema-solr4 will solve the issue and it will out of box work with the pre-defined examples of Solr 4.3.0.
