Ruth appreciate the input, css is tricky across all browsers.
especially since Microsoft likes to use non standard features in their
browser.
I use ff 1.5 and I am not having the problems you show.
here is what I use to test for all browsers, since not everyone even
uses FF.

Also the CSS went through a major change when we converted to themes.
and of course the lack of manpower to test and fix.
