Hello Maxim

The video traffic can be marked and directed to high bandwidth priority queues in a switch through Openflow. This process will be really efficient if there's some mechanism of identifying video traffic in OpenMeeting like from different protocol headers (maybe dscp field, or specific ports). It will be really helpful if I you can provide some inputs on it. These rules work at the network/infrastructure layer and will be managed by a SDN controller. This actually is a simple trademark use case of SDN.

Bandwidth/Network resources can be very dynamically controlled at the application(OM) layer by designing high level policies which are implemented in the low level at network through a SDN controller proxy.

Thanks and Regards

Hello Sidhant,

Actually network bandwidth is always bottleneck for video chat applications
I would appreciate any thought on how this can be optimized

    Hello OpenMeetings,

I am a research student from TSSG,Ireland and is studying
primarily to provide Software Defined Networks(SDN) support to
    Enterprise Collaboration/Communication Systems like OpenMeetings.

We intend to use OpenMeetings as the basis of our testbed and
research what all problems it faces with the network and how can
it benefit from the extra configuration and management of network
facilitated by SDN. For instance, defining some high level
policies for network control through which OpenMeeting
administrator can configure its allocated networking resources.

If from the experience of users here, we can get some
feedback/input as to what specific problems are faced by
OpenMeetings related to network, we would be able to work in a
more directed manner in improving the network experience of
    OpenMeetings.
Having said that, I would be glad to join the development
community to include SDN support in OpenMeetings if there are
    positive results.

    Looking for the help

    Thanks and Regards
