You cannot say dropped, as there was no support for RHEL 6 for OC 8 as it was 
not released. Older ownCloud versions are still supported on RHEL 6 and will 
also continue to be supported for a while. OC 5 will reach EOL later this 
year.
 
Also note, PHP 5.3 is dead: http://de2.php.net/archive/2014.php#id2014-08-14-1
