Hi Mike, Yes, this is a known missing feature in Apache Avatica, the tech behind the thin client/query server. I've recently committed the implementation in Avatica, we just need to cut a new release upstream and also here in Phoenix.
The workaround is to use the thick client or avoid the use of arrays with the thin client at present. On May 3, 2017 13:07, "Mike Prendergast" <mikeprenderg...@iotait.com> wrote: We are getting a “Remote driver error: UnsupportedOperationException: Currently not supported” error when querying an hbase table in an EMR 5.4 cluster using the phoenix-4.9.0-HBase-1.2-thin-client.jar. The error occurs when doing a select on a table that has one or more columns with Array data type. When I remove the Array columns from the select clause, the query runs without error. I did some research on this problem and it seems to be a bug documented in issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CALCITE-1050. We would like to know if this behavior was reported to you before, and if so, what is your recommended workaround or solution.
