Yep, the repository name is the same. I’ve gone through that thread too, the only difference being that we actually have Kerberos enabled in our Hadoop Cluster.
On the ranger admin UI, under the dfs.datanode.kerberos.principal field, what do I specify? I ask because we have multiple datanodes and the each of them have a different principal that is tied to their hostname. Also, to reiterate my original question about CDH, are there any known incompatibilities with CDH? Also, are there any known incompatibilities between Ranger 0.5.0 and hadoop 2.6.0? Also, can you ensure the repository name you created in Ranger admin is the same one being configured for Ranger plugin? We have been able to get the Ranger Admin portal running but cannot seem to get the Hadoop Namenode to pick up the HDFS plugin. We are following the instructions at https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/RANGER/Ranger+Installation+Guide. We’ve tried both 0.5.0 and 0.4.1 after compiling the source code. I see that the name node is picking up the jar files from /usr/lib/hadoop directory and the right configuration values are injected into the xml files (hdfs-site.xml) but I don’t see the agent on my ranger admin UI. Are there any known incompatibilities with CDH versions of Hadoop? Or is there something that we’re missing? Cheers, -- Harish
