Can Maven version by chance be a problem in this case? In default
pom.xml, it says pre-requisite maven 3.0.0 and i have set M2_HOME for
maven 3.1.1.

I landed up on this post because of the scala-maven-plugin.
I increased the perm size Using MAVEN_OPTS.
Also i have apache maven 3.1.1 as my M2_HOME.
