what's the meaning of topology.worker.shared.thread.pool.size

Hello all,
 
we've set topology.worker.shared.thread.pool.size to 512
 
I thought it should be big enough to suffice number of threads we create in a 
worker
 
but today I saw the default value and it was set to 4.
 
what will be happen we set this value higher, will there be any problem?
