Well, the Struts mailing list has a long, and I mean LONG, history of off-topic conversations. I should know, I've been one of the bigger offenders over time. :-)
The rules have always been that the messages should be suitably labeled with either [OT], [FRIDAY] or [BEER]. This allows folks to filter them out and avoid the non-Struts aspects of the list. That's the way it is and basically, the advice I have for people who don't like it, is to filter it out or choose not to read it. For those who do choose to indulge in off topic conversations, please do try to remember that this is a public list and that there are people from around the whole world with different value sets. So please try to take the high road and keep the name calling and profanity as close to zero as you can manage.
