Some of which used Struts as one of the use cases to prove a pattern exists. :)

But, in the end, it is what it is. What we call a mechanism is not as
important as whether the mechanism suits a developer's needs.
Sometimes JSF will work well for an application. Sometimes it won't.
An expert uses the best tool for the job. A journeyman wants one size
to fit all.

Another example is SQL data mappers verus object relational mappers.
Sometimes, iBATIS is the best tool for the job. Sometimes Cayene or
Hibernate work even better.
