Development and management are not organized well in Thrift project - I submitted a bug and a patch (!) on 3/21/11 and its still even not assigned (!!).

As to your conclusion that PB is better designed - how in that case more and more companies select Thrift over PB? Did you mean better implemented? High level design as a skeleton of ideas to implement is much better (imho) in Thrift.
