We're on the cusp of the next 2.x release, 2.5.0, probably in the next
week or two.

We kept the 1.x branch alive for a year after cutting over to 2.x to
allow people time to migrate. Most of the changes in 1.x in the last
6 months or so have been security related. We will no longer support
1.x after September 30, 2022.

I defer to Dave Meikle and other teammates who work on the Docker
image more closely. We might get tesseract 5.x for free via the repo
if we bump ubuntu to 22.04? We may have to build it from scratch?

It would be helpful if you could open an issue on our JIRA to track
tesseract 5.x. Thank you!

Best,

               Tim
