In trying to figure out how to begin design and development of a corporate intranet while utilizing Ablecommerce CFMX5.5 as its key component.
(a coldfusion written robust shopping cart on top of a Java engine with JavaDocs) setting atop MySQL. I have been attending and collaborating with the "Atlanta ColdFusion Users Group" (ACFUG) and have been going through the certification books, and now the "Web Application Construction Kit" (WACK). I am also being forced to try to figure out Velocity in an effort to make better emails driven by Ablecommerce and see many similarities between ColdFusion, and Velocity as far as ways to develop dynamic documents in email, and web pages. My question is then. How does CF compare to Velocity? If I am to develop an intranet corporate management tool to do SQL calls, edits, updates etc, should or would I consider Velocity as the language to use? WHY?
