Turning off swap guaranteed that NO SWAP is using. ZooKeeper has the ability of handling machine failure, but not very good at handling slow nodes.
As Ted said, there are lots of reasons. Solving the memory leak is more helpful than turning off swap. Donna, do you running other processes other than zookeeper in a machine?
