The mail notification messages now do contain the branch name.

Also, you should note "hg glog", or "hg log -g".  This gives a graphical
representation of the changeset graph in the terminal, and is extremely
useful to see what's going on.  I have in my .hgrc:

    [extensions]
    hgext.graphlog=

    [alias]
    mgl = glog --template "{rev}:{node|short} {branches|nonempty}: 
{desc|firstline}\n"

which is a useful one-line overview of each changeset that lets you see the
graph a little more easily.  If you have

    [hgk]
    path=/usr/demo/mercurial/hgk

and you have tcl/tk on your system, then "hg view" will pop up a full GUI.
It's not the best in the world, but it has some advantages, too.
