Right after authenticating, you mean. That's what I meant to do in
commit a0ddbe03a28868fdbe3f4f447af60c94e383896a, and obviously it
wasn't good enough.

So either I'm too stupid or it just can't be done. Either way I
changed it. I like code I can comprehend, fallible as I am.
