Thanks Arnt. I've been able to determine now that over this exact same path the email shows up to Archiveopteryx with the incorrect hostname already applied to the To: header. This must be a bug in the Dragonfly Mail Agent software exactly as you had described.

I'll report this upstream as best I can.
