Hi Matt, this is a great idea, I am currently working on a prototype for a flex application starting from the appfuse-modular-spring archetype. The web services layer is built on Granite Data Services which implements them using the native Flash data serialization for best performance. Hopefully the Granite Data Services option will be included in Enunciate, so I will benefit a lot from a new appfuse-ws archetype built upon it.
My prototype also uses the maven antrun plugin to compile MXML and ActionScript files to SWF using the flex ant tasks provided by Adobe Labs with the free Flex SDK, so it could be the base for a new appfuse archetype if someone find it interesting, or at least a page on the wiki to suggest a path for flex integration in AppFuse.
