There is no tomcat6x, only tomcat5x. It's just a name, but you need to have tomcat5x as the value. It will work with Tomcat 6 as long as you point to Tomcat 6 for CATALINA_HOME.

      Matt,
(While I used '<cargo.container>tomcat6x</cargo.container>', I get the msg: there is no registered configuration for the parameters (container [id
= [tomcat6x], ...]), so I get back to original settings.)
Thus, I (and always) get the msg as in the imgs (both screeshot refer to
the single cmd):

It's fun bcoz it seems that it first try to start TomCat5.x (no sucess)
and then try to start Apache TomCat/6.0.16!! :confused:
 What should it be the problem??!

Set your CATALINA_HOME to "C:\Java\Servers\WebSrvrs\Apache Tomcat 6.0.16"
in
your environment variables and remove any references to
cargo.container.url
in your pom.xml and you should be good to go. You may run into issues with
having Tomcat in a directory with spaces, but I'm not sure.

Ok! So, let's suppose we have a TomCat6 (by the way it's the 1 use by
Eclipse's enviroment) installed in 'C:\Java\Servers\WebSrvrs\Apache
Tomcat
6.0.16'.
Obs.: the code piece (that must be substtued) has tag <installDir> (that
I
don't know if that's TomCat's root installation either Cargo's dir).
My doubt is: Haven't we config the element <home> accordinglly in the
code
piece: '
<container>
   <containerId>${cargo.container}</containerId>
   <home>${cargo.container.home}</home>
</container>
'??! Or It would work out with no changes?! And what about this: '

<!-- Cargo settings -->
<cargo.container>tomcat5x</cargo.container>

<cargo.container.home>${env.CATALINA_HOME}</cargo.container.home>

<cargo.container.url>
http://archive.apache.org/dist/tomcat/tomcat-6/v6.0.14/bin/apache-tomcat-6.0.14.zip
</cargo.container.url>

<cargo.host>localhost</cargo.host>

<cargo.port>8081</cargo.port>

<cargo.wait>false</cargo.wait>
'??! (1 of the first things I tried was change '<cargo.container>tomcat5x </cargo.container>' to '<cargo.container>tomcat6x</ cargo.container>'.)
about
'CATALINA_HOME': so shouldn't be a Enviroment Variable in Windows for
TomCat
(installation)?! (There isn't instructions of setting TomCat (in
Development
Environment <http://appfuse.org/display/APF/Development +Environment>),
althouth Cargo's TomCat is used in a lot of AppFuse/mvn cmds.) I'm
quite
lost. Could u help me changing the data suitably according TomCat 6.0.16
(ficticious installation) mensioned above??!

    Hi guys,

I've searched severelly in this forum for a (complete and) quick guide
of
How to set TomCat of Cargo.
The informations in the tutorials (and even in maven pages) are not
clear/complete.
So kind of u, plz could explain me and gimme a sample simulating a
hipotetic (installation) dir of a pre-existing TomCat 6 (so that get
able
to
run mvn cargo:start -Dcargo.wait=true and all other cmds that uses
Cargo/TomCat)?!
In advance, thnx,
