Thats been the plan of Avalon for close to 4 years now.

> Does Loom now go in exactly the opposit direction?

Nope. It goes in the same direction. The people who who previously
maintained Phoenix in Avalon land decided that it was better to pursue this
goal outside of Avalon. By doing this we can achieve this goal a lot earlier
and to a lot higher quality than we could otherwise.

> Does it have advantages, too?

Its main advantage is that Phoenix was the most stable, longlived container
in Avalon. However now that all the people who were previously active in
development and maintanence of Phoenix have left or are now working on Loom
you should expect the same level of quality from Loom.
