I want to find a way to start playing with the Avalon Framework to evaluate it. I want to build an Avalon component, and run it in a very simple container. I don't want to get lost in the details of the myriad other parts of Avalon outside the framework; ECM, Fortress, Pheonix, etc.
I've downloaded and built Avalon Framework 4.1.4.
Can anyone give me pointers on what minimum more is needed to get something simple running? Some simple container?
Go to: http://dpml.net/merlin/distributions/ Download the binary diribution, the documentation, and the turorials.
In the documetation you will see a link named "Getting Started". Start with that. Its basic stuff - about configuration, context, dependecy management etc. By the time you have finished you will have a good idea about the value of Avalon. All of the tutorials come with codfe what has been tested ansd is buildable and executable. If you have questions you should post them to the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list - because we are interested in questions because this reflects on our documation and tutorials (and we are interested in this).
Cheers, Steve.
