Perhaps a quick look at Tweety will give you an overview of what containers are about. They are not that complicated as I then progressed to Fortress and managed to get a simple example running using the help on the web pages. Have not played with Merlin yet it is on the list of things to do (a very looong list).

Subject: simple Framework getting started?
I want to find a way to start playing with the Avalon Framework to
evaluate it. I want to build an Avalon component, and run it in a very
simple container. I don't want to get lost in the details of the
myriad other parts of Avalon outside the framework; ECM, Fortress,
Pheonix, etc.
I've downloaded and built Avalon Framework 4.1.4.
Can anyone give me pointers on what minimum more is needed to get something simple running? Some simple container?
