Which provides a snippet on setting up Fortress within a servlet. CVS also
contains a few example Fortress application which build on that. Have a
look at:

http://cvs.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/avalon/fortress/examples/src/java/org/apache/avalon/fortress/examples/servlet/

I found both of these very useful in starting with fortress.

I'll take the blame on some of the lack of examples and tutorials, simply
because I keep promising to write more of them.  On quick fortress +
servlet

But it is a bit dated.
