I think it's tosh.... not unlike a lot of his books... it's the usual pattern of an author re-inventing a subject by applying a new vocabulary.
I actually saw this author when he gave a 'key note' speech at an XP seminar in London in December. The keynote was crap, though as the audience was full of XP zealots they were all in awe. Later on I overheard Fowler talking with a colleague about how bored he was with XP. Perhaps he's looking at Avalon as his next victim - God help you all.
