I was thinking of something like that too.  Perhaps I could keep the idea of
the little mutual funds application and do a non-component implementation as
well as the PicoContainer and Fortress versions.

Eventually, I'd want to put together a full tutorial that shows the various
principles of component oriented programming (SoC, IoC, etc.).  Start off
with a basic API and then show simple implementations in PicoContainer,
Fortress, Merlin and perhaps a few others.

Then do a phase two where we pick one (Fortress or Merlin) and expand on the
application, showing a Swing based version and a web based version.
Something that shows off how COP can ease the complexity of a big
application.  I think the little mutual fund app is a good candidate for
this.

I'm not sure if this will end up on the Avalon site or not.  It would be a
great Avalon Beginners guide, but I also want to include references and
examples to other containers.
