:)

Well, we'll find out in the next few days. The ASF Board is aware of the
situation regarding the Metro fork. The matter of the fact is that:

1. Merlin developers and users can find support at Metro
2. Phoenix developers and users can find support at Loom
3. Fortress/ECM developers and users can find support over at Excalibur.

In fact, Avalon doesn't even host Fortress any more.

When you subtract all of that there really isn't much left for Avalon.
We're working on transfer the original framework code and logkit over to
Excalibur as well.

If all of this occurs, then it is likely Avalon will close down, being split
into several projects both here at Apache and elsewhere (like Codehaus and
DPML). That' not necessarily a bad thing since all the code is still
available and being developed, just not here. Moreover, there has been talk
about dividing up Avalon since well before Avalon moved out of Jakarta in
2002. In all honestly, we should have split the project up then, but no one
really wanted to (hey, breaking up is hard to do, right?), so the drama
dragged on until today.

The good thing is, and the part I want to stress the most, is that no one
will be left high and dry. All of the code originally under the Avalon
umbrella is still available under an Apache license with support from
original developers.
