Hi Lance,
the problem with the 0.7 code is that is not maintained very much anymore.
I hope maybe someone else can chip in and answer your 0.7 question. I would
however encourage you to try to see if you can 'import' your 0.7 source
using 0.8 code and deploy BioMart server.  This should work ok if your 0.7
set up is not too fancy. There is a chance that it could make your life
easier in the long run
