PS It is unlikely to be due to local problem on my machine as i tried it on a 
different part of campus as well, on both PC and Mac.

I guess it could conceivably be a university-wide problem with the 
network...although downloads from UCSC genome browser seem to be working just 
fine at the moment.

we have only received an official communication from Ensembl about the update 
to 66 today so i don't think any update was attempted before this date. Could 
you give me more details on which BioMart server you are using (08 or 07) and

I've been trying to download all the human 3'UTRs for protein-coding genes.

Starting at Martview
Ensembl Version 65
GRCh37 human genome
Filters: Protein-coding
Attributes: Gene ID, Transcript ID, 3'UTR

I've tried downloading as a Fasta file, a compressed (.gz) Fasta file, and as a 
webfile, all three options on both a PC and a Mac.

The same error occurred in every case - MySQL connection was lost during the 
download, approximately 20% of the way through, or less.

I noticed Martview was temporarily listing Version 66 last week but has 
returned to Version 65 now?  Perhaps it is a temporary problem caused by 
instability during an upgrade?
