Around a year ago, MariaDB acquired Galera (Codership), making Percona unnecessary now. The official SST methods for Galera are now rsync and mariabackup. Mariabackup allows the donor to remain available during the SST process. Postgres would only be helpful in multi-region configurations where there are multiple replicas operating across various geographic locations. This is dicciful to achieve with Galera, as It could significantly slow down database writes.
