J.P I agree that in a "ideal" world there should be no markup in an normal database; however, because we are still at the point of 'changeover' (moving from plain text to XML) there is often a need to do exactly this kind of thing - keep the bulk of data in neat database compartments, with some fraction containing *some* markup - thereby taking advantage of the "best of both worlds"; database speed, security, etc and XML "intelligence". In the Ideal World (coming soon - watch this space!) we'll have XML databases with a complete set of advantages.
In the meantime Tim can put <esql:get-xml> wrappers around his HTML markup data coming out the database (and hope its well-formed!!) You'll have to do some reparsing. Because a lot of people subscribed to the bad idea of putting marked up text into DB strings and similar unfitting containers, you'll find some hints in the list archive. <snip/> J.Pietschmann --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
