i would bet atom is pretty easy to implement, you'd just need to be able to listen for PUT, POST, DELETE on specific url's.
I am currently implementing the new Bitflux Editor version (http://bitfluxeditor.mozdev.org/) which is based on Mozile.
It uses the WebDAV library from "Twingle" ( I think written by Stefan Richter). So I am currently implementing PUT ...
but I am sure there remains plenty of stuff to do for the GT at Ghent
