I think what he means is that to describe literal output elements (for templates) you need angle brackets.

That's fine with me, XSLScript is not completely devoid of angle brackets either. For me what's a pain is having to write *every* statement in XML.

Just quickly looking at XSLScript it looks interesting - if it's compatible with our license it may be worth trying to stick some samples in Cocoon's cvs?
