Peter

May I request that you add a page to the wiki about this;
and maybe add a little more detail on the "how to" for
the options you have mentioned (esp. for those of us
for whom tuning web servers is not our day job...)

Thanks
Derek

I'll not say which Cocoon is best but here is what I do know:

Using Cocoon 2.1:

* Running an XSLT-intensive Cocoon App on a Solaris 8 box is slower
than on a Windows box by default.

* Tuning the Cocoon pooling configuration of the XSLT transformer
  is critical for speed.

Also, the coyote connector under Tomcat 4.1.21 (at least) can use
the HTTP content-encoding feature to compress the stream. I saw
great performance gains in terms of network usage with this.

Regards,

Peter

Subject: best cocoon version with regard to xsl transformation

Hello!

We are planning to migrate a web application from cocoon 1.8.2 to
cocoon 2
to increase throughput and page response. Application will be hosted
on
Tomcat 4.1.12. It can also be upgraded to 4.1.29 if perf. gains are
noticed.
In the existing Web application most of the processing time has been
found
to be spent with xsl transformation. It currently uses Saxon.

Which version of cocoon (cocoon 2.0.3, cocoon 2.1.2, cocoon 2.13) is
best
with regard to xslt processing time and throughtput. (Cocoon 1.8.2
seemed to
lock the pages of the same url for considerable period of time during
processing).

Many Thanks
