Lars What you say is true up to a point. But most people will try out a new product on a *small* scale first before making a large commitment (a bit like engagement before marriage). I do not believe that the community has to "demonstrate" that the product works - its up to each person to satisfy themselves that Cocoon will work for their situation. Having useful samples does help a lot in this regard... and obviously being willing to answer any serious questions, where possible. Ultimately, though, we cannot "prove" that Cocoon is ideal or a perfect fit for someone else's situation.
Perhaps I should have phrased my last remark to say: "Cocoon works well for me because, in addition to the valuable technology it contains, its also supported by a strong community." Other products may also have this but I can only speak from my own experience... While agreeing that this is true, I would caution that many, if not most, prospective users of Cocoon have to make the decision whether or not to invest themselves in Cocoon *before* getting involved with it to any significant degree. We can't ask everybody to jump out of the airplane wearing an Acme parachute, saying "trust me, it works, as you'll find out once you're committed." :-) In other words, it is very reasonable for Julian to ask searching questions before getting deep enough into Cocoon to become a contributor. And if we the Cocoon community want Cocoon to be accepted widely by people/projects for whom it's appropriate, we need to be able to demonstrate, to a reasonable degree, Cocoon's fitness for particular purposes, without asking the inquirer to make a big time commitment.
