Let the artistically inclined chip in. It's a different and fun way to get 
involved.

I disagree with the 3-6 month timeframe suggestion. Make it short and sweet. 
People who want to take the time and do so can pitch in. We can always have 
another contest later, for another version. Eclipse seems to update its splash 
screen every release.
