I recently invested in a x86_64 system (AMD 3200 running Suse9.2). The version
of OOo which came with it (1.1.3) was pretty awful, so I installed 1.1.4
which seems much better. However, I still have a problem trying to connect to
my MySQL databases; each time I try, I get a message to the effect that file
libmyodbc3.so does not exist.

But:- 1) it does exist 2) I do have permissions (running as root gives the
same error) 3) the file is not corrupt, and 4) the isql command works fine.
So I assume that the problem lies within OOo.

I saw similar error messages with my own home-grown applications, the solution
to which seemed to be to rebuild them from source. But I understand from a
bit of Googling around that this would be a less than trivial undertaking for
OOo.

So if anyone has an alternative option, I'd be eternally grateful.

Cheers,
TonyB
