The doble fields are fine. At first glance, this sounds like a driver bug. I darkly remember that in some cases, a MySQL driver was too generous with declaring certain columns as "currency" - they used a flag which, by definition, should say "is currency", though they wanted to say "_can_ be currency". OOo, respecting the definition of "is currency", then auto-guessed that it should also be formatted as currency. But not sure. We can investigate in the course of the issue(s) you submitted.
