Base here is consistent with the rest of OOo. Personally, I like MDI
better than SDI, but any change here will only happen (if at all) in OOo
as a whole.

Right. I took this occasion to finally submit an issue for this

Also agreed. The query design (as well as for instance the table design)
is pretty old-fashioned in this and may other respects, and I'd love to
fix those quirks. Unfortunately, I honestly don't believe too strong
that something will change there in the near future, since there are
much more important things to do with quite limited resources.

Honestly: Quite improbable - .0.x versions are usually only for the most
important bug fixes (crashes, data losses, and so on).
