Hi Bill,
I downloaded OOo 2.0 release candidate today. Base crashed four times
when I tried to create a report in a simple database created from an
Excel file. I sent an error report to Sun after the first and fourth
crash.
If you used an email address when reporting the crashs (did you?), I
might be able to look up your reports, and see if they tell anything
about possible reasons. In general - well, I did enought reports myself,
without crashing, so I suppose something is special on how you did it,
or in your environment, or something like this.
I was able to create a grouped report one time, but each time the
grouped field changed the report started a new page.
Strange. Do you have sample data, and sample settings for the wizard,
for this?
In addition it is extremely difficult to edit a report. I could change
the column width but that's about it. I couldn't find a way to search
for a manual page break and remove it to get the report the way I wanted
it. Help file is sparse here.
Ehm - yes. Actually, editing a report is - very unfortunately - not
really supported currently :(
I was able to create a query but the query results did not carry over
the formatting from my table. I formatted one column as currency in my
table but it shows up as just a number in the query results. Is this by
design?
I agree that it's expectation conformant that the column in the report
has the same formatting as in the underlying query/table, so this now is
issue 55179.
Base appears to be somewhat more stable than earlier releases but it
looks like there's quite a bit of work still ahead.
Ehm - yes.
Ciao
Frank
Yes, Frank, I used my email address in reporting the problem(twice). I
note that two other posters report the same problem with a grouped
report requiring new pages when the group field changes with no apparent
way to change this.
I'll stop trying to create reports until I get the production release of
version 2, which I hope will be by the end of the year.
Does the latest version of StarOffice handle database reports any better?
Bill
