So, my vote is for the teacher's DB, I'd say.
Well, given the fact that I have people expecting to get an updated
version of the database before the next school year begins it sounds
like a winner to me.
Or, the other way round: I would love a small example which allows the
user to learn things
Yes, I agree. Perhaps I am overly optimistic as to what an average user
can digest?
Right now the TeachingDays database is for all intents and purposes
finishded, or at least is, as it was. Currently there is really no
reporting functions. All the users have some experience with MSA and
have had no problems getting what they need just by using the query
designer. ( After all, the database was writtne over a few cups of
coffee with my friend sitting next to me ) This has proven to be a good
thing by the way, the query designer that is - omissions left aside -
what is there has been useful to them, with good ease. I have had to
field only a small handful of questions regarding queries, and mostly
these where about using dates in a selection statement.
As it is now is there are zero macros in the database.
However, the simple requests made for the next version will both modify
the schema to be much more relational and as fas I can see requrie a
couple of macros. The later is something I am hoping to avoid if
possible OR if I am smart enough to figure how might be more accurate.
Anyway, back to learning. I will make a copy of the database, as is, and
put it up for download. Then I will go and make the changes for this
next years version and post that up also, while I am making the changes
I will update the wiki with what, and why, I am doing. Perhaps that will
be something for the learning side of things.
Sincerely
Drew
