How can one connect from an existing Calc (*.ods) file to an existing Base (*.odb) file when the existing Base file is not registered with OO (OpenOffice)?
Scenario: The technical team completed the design and implementation of a database, using OO Base file as the content holder, and OO Calc as the GUI and report generator. The technical team created the *.odb from scratch and therefore has the chance to register the *.odb file with OO during new file creation on the technical team's PC. Now it comes time to deploy the set of *.odb and *.ods files to users. The users are free to locate the files anywhere they want on their own PC's. The users open the *.ods file, select "view" and "data sources". The users got stuck there. Challenge to users: * There is no apparent way in "Data Source Explorer" in Calc to connect an existing *.odb file which has not been registered with OO on customers' PC's. * There is no apparent way in Calc to register an existing *.odb file with OO.
