There is no such thing as connection state info. There is *no*
connection information persistent across OOo sessions.

So, I suppose something corrupted your installation, but I don't yet
have a clue what and how.

Which suggests your JRE is somehow defective. Things you could try, please:

- Do connections to non-embedded HSQL databases work? Try creating a
  Base connection of type "JDBC", with JDBC URL "jdbc:hsqldb:file:foo",
  with a driver class "org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver".
- Does other Java-dependent functionality work? Try the Fax or Agenda
  wizard, for example.
