I need a lan accessabile database solution and have been considering Base and MySQL. Apparently one cannot create databases for MySQL using Base as a front-end they need to be created by whoever admins the MySQL server? Even if I decide to just use the HSQL engine of Base, can I setup up OOo/Base on XP as a server, administrate and use it from a Linux station and have other XP stations be able to access and update the database. My applications are are fairly simple, such as inventory (being able for respective stations to add/delete contents of in real-time). Any comments or references appreciated.
